Household Decline
Just 49.6% of U.S. households made a charitable contribution in 2018, the latest year for which comprehensive data is available. That is a drop of almost 17 percent from 2000, when 66.2% of American households gave charitable donations, the study finds. The study attributed this largely to a lack of trust among Americans and younger generations never getting into the habit of giving.

Diverse Funding
Most nonprofits rely too heavily on one source of revenue. Whether that comes in the form of large grants, fundraising events, large donors, or program fees. This introduces instability when planning for the future. Any decrease in this large percent of overall funding can have large impacts in the financial health of the nonprofit.

Board Turnover
Every nonprofit is required to have board of directors. These boards are made up of volunteers in the community. Boards members are continuously rolling off of and being added to boards. Finding community members that have the time, skills, and passion to serve the nonprofit is extremely important and can be difficult.
The Mission
To support local nonprofits by strengthening community trust, giving rates, and grow a philanthropy based business model in the community.
Grow
Directly give 10% of my income to local nonprofits selected by my clients. Grow trust between the community and nonprofits through interviews, video production, and resources. Introduce individuals who are interested in supporting local nonprofits to the power and impact they can have on others.
Influence
By positioning supporting local non profits at the core of my business model I hope to show that this giving based business model can be successful and also meaningful. By showing that clients and referral partners support this approach I hope to influence others in the mortgage industry to adopt the same model.
Connect
Be a bridge between local nonprofits and the communities they serve. Provide information on nonprofit events, ways to donate, and ways to be involved. Whether that means volunteer opportunities, becoming a board member, or attending an event to grow community,
